1st post...

I have never been a fan of blogs, but I'm writing this in hope it will ease the pain of losing days like the one I have just had. I doubt anyone will read this, but if it helps me analyse a few hands and get some frustration out of my system then it will be worth it.

-------
Today
-------

Seeing as I had no football, I thought I'd put in a long session - or few sessions of poker - 5/10 and 3/6 NL. Games looked (and were) awesome. I was loving all the line ups.. then I started to play some hands... and yeah, variance tore me a new one.

Graph of today:

Soooo yeah, whoever controls poker owes me a bit of money.

Okay, onto some hands. Most will be standard, and I'll add a few comments to them too. {Edit - I can't find a decent HH converter yet so this will have to do, I guess.}

This is very standard.. maybe a little deeper than i like to get it in with JJ against a pretty damn tight Villain, but it's def okay once he 4bets to go ahead and get it in v him CO v BTN. This was near the end of my session, so I was a little pissed off with it I guess, espescially as he tanked forever then made the call... like you're ever gonna 4bet fold AK there.

Villain in this hand I know quite well, and talk to lots. i raise the BTN as standard here, obv call his flop raise with an open ended straight draw as his flop raising range is wide, esp as i'm opening so many buttons, hit my dream card on the turn. He bets nearly full pot, so I just go ahead and stick the rest in. I'm starting to use this line with other hands so this line seems okay/ good. he snaps, cos he's probably well ahead of my range here, as he has a huge hand. Obviously my 80% doesn't hold and he clips on the river.

Hm yeah, this was when I was starting to get really angry with how my luck was going and how the session was turning out. This is the single worst hand I have played all month. I can't even remember tilting away a buy-in like this at all this month. I'm posting to remind myself how shitty this really is. Check flop, FOLD FLOP, FOLD TURN.. DON'T RAISE ALLIN ON THE TURN Villain shows [ 4h 4s ].Villain shows [ 4h 4s ].Villain shows [ 4h 4s ].Villain shows [ 4h 4s ].Villain shows [ 4h 4s ]..

I'm fairly sure the only thing he would ever fold there is a bare flush draw.. and i'm not sure he ever really has one here.

This is one of the 2 outers I got dealt today. This one was particularly brutal as I was dileriously happy about getting the money in pre-flop here, as this guy was a mouth breather.. but meh.. he was kind enough to say sorry afterwards.... so that's kind of as good as $1200 right?

I'm fed up of hands where I lose. I mayyyyy be able to find some where I won some money.

This was a spot pre-flop i'm obv absolutely thrilled about it. I decided to call the squeeze pre. I spoke to a friend about it who said he prefers a 4bet and try to get it in pre.. which I do like. The fish to my left is short so calling for him to tag along is just silly, and also another of the cold callers was a decent reg.. so if those 2 both called it may put me in a tough spot post flop. When we get heads up on the flop, checkraise allin is pretty standard, I can rep an FD or any amount of crap that i called with thinking he was full of it with his squeeze - though I did raise UTG, villain is not toooo positionally aware from what I have seen. He'll prob just level himself into calling with whatever.

Well that was the only semi-interesting hand I could find from a winning perspective.. and it's really not that interesting at all. The rest of the losses came from standard flips and 70/30s etc.. kinda sucked. I was hoping for a REALLY big score this month. At the mo it looks like this:

Soooo I'm at about $41k for the month - the thick green line. Should be up around 50k or so. Everyone says you should ignore the expected value line etc, but I find it brutally hard to do that.. so I just moan about it instead. I'm on like a 25k hand breakeven stretch which is really frustrating. Writing this has actually calmed me down a little. I have two, 2 hour lessons coming up this week with my coach which I'm excited about.. the first will be first thing Monday, which is the next time I'll play.. so that's hopefully gonna be a good way to forget about losing session.

I'm not going to write much about normal life I don't expect, cos lets face it, if in fact anyone is reading it's unlikely they care too much... butttt tomorrow I am having a day off poker.. playing football and getting drunk with friends at some festival if the weather holds up.
