Boom! - 70k

Yesterday I had a really good day, which put 70k within reaching distance.. so I played a ridic amount, throughout the night. By around 6am I was like ~3k away from it. I took a break, went to get my haircut... ya at 6am and it was packed.. what the hell? Came back took a shower and grinded out the rest of the 3k to make a 70k month.

This is def the proudest I have been during my poker career.. for all the ~20k-30k months I have had it was just grinding, but this month I feel like I actually acheived something, and I worked pretty hard at it too. Also I owe this session to 'Kick' a cheap Red Bull substitute... god it's awful.

This month is def down to a good work ethic, getting a coach and talking to people about hands and stuff like that to improve my game. Thanks ppl, you know who you are. Also I never imagined how much difference a decent screen and good setup would make.. it's pretty amazing.

The hand that tipped me over was actually pretty funny, so I'll post that.. and then my months highlights.. then i'm taking the next two days off, drinking playing football and generally staying away from poker.

Bleh yeah that's enough anyways. A friend said I should put in a mini glossary so he could understand all the poker crap that I type, so I will do that some time.. I forget that these random acronyms that are everyday use for me look completely stupid to other ppl.

I guess my goals will be for next month:

-To play as many hands as possible, even though it will be hard.
- Play 10/20, (GASP!) by myself.
- Play more on Full Tilt Poker, and ipoker.

Cool day

Wasn't gonna update cos of the time it takes.. but games dried up for the day, so just a quick one (no hands).

Hands 0-960ish was a coaching session, where we ran pretty well, again.. and played some 10/20 which was cool. Days like these make me rethink going to uni...

50k for the month..

Bit wary of posting that I hit the 50k for the month, cos i'm blatantly just gonna go on some monster 30BI downswing or some shit. It's just how poker works.

I played 4288 hands today. Made a quick 5k before lunch.. then spent the next session floating between +5k and even... these sessions are pretty frustrating, but I finished somewhere in the middle just above 3k for today.

The graph is a bit mad, and I was allin a lottttt today, so I should be able to find some interesting hands - I won't bother posting the flips.

This is such a screwy hand. In retrospect I think I should just shove, and I'm not too sure that's being results orientated either. SB is a reg - a bad one at that - who calls 4bets CONSTANTLY.. which is obv bad as he is out of position, but even worse when there is still one player to act who has already shown a great deal of strength by flatting the 3bet pre. So shoving would mean I don't get any of these ugly spots.. If the flop was 9TJ of spades and the pot is $1.1k ish and I have $600 left against 2 players I wouldn't know what to do, also if it came AAT or something. Also it doesn't matter if they both fold it doesn't matter as I pick up $320 dead money.

As it is, the BB (who was a bad player) 2 outered to pick up the pot.. I really wasn't worried about him at the time, actually I was all like "yeah he prob has 55 or sth".

My opponents both played this awfully, in my opinion. SB yeah fair enough 3bets a UTG+1's isolation raise.. which awful regs at 5/10 do this far too much. He see's a coldcall from the BB THEN a 4bet from me. He calls the 4bet, not even thinking that BB might shove and he would have just wasted $215. I can't imagine what he'd want to do this with unless it was a big pair allowing people to carry on with their 4bet bluffs, but obv you wouldn't do this as it would just be completely unbalanced... infact i'm not gonna try and figure out what he had, he probably had 2 uno cards or something. BB was actually in a tough spot pre with a iso raise from UTG+1 then a 3bet of a UTG+1 raise in the SB.. but I'd probably shove pre in these games. On the flop I really do wonder if he was trying to get us both to fold.

I'm fairly sure I can fold this river, against this player. To be honest I wasn't concentrating at the start of this hand, I think I had bigger hands going on elsewhere. I should probably raise preflop, as CO was weak. Villain is particularly tight, so I think a river fold is good.. esp as he fullpots it, in a limped pot too.. but I wouldn't make a habbit of it. I think he'd def lead sets, or CR them on the flop. I quite liked how he played this hand.

Preflop is prob marginal esp against a guy 3betting 5%ish.. I'm pretty sure it's bad. On the flop I shove as I would many other strong hands/draws/bluffs (how ever many of them I have there).. Just unfortunate he has a set over my set.

Now for some winning hands.. the first 2 are against the same player.. and he was fun to play against. Not that coach would like them, as i'm just playing completely exploititively (is that how I spell it?).

My reason for this shove was... well he appears to be clicking random buttons, and there is 50% chance he clicks call. I get the money in as a 65% fav - so i'm obv happy about that even though I thought I'd be a much bigger fav and that he'd show up with like A2 or sth.

This is def my fav hand of the night. This guy is obv a bit strange in the head. I 3bet pre knowing i'm so far ahead of his calling range. I hit the flop hard - a flush draw and two over cards. I bet out, 2 streets, then completely miss all my outs. then he 4/5pots the river.. I was about to fold then thought what the hell would he have. AA/KK/QQ/JJ/TT/AK/AQ all put in a 4th bet pre (ya even 200bb deep) and he cannot slowplay so a set/2pair is out of the question.. A2 or 67 for the gutshot was the ONLY thing I thought played anything like this.. and I didn't believe him so I called expecting to see QJ or sth.. but it was a little close in the end, I won with a better A high.

Quads! I call the flop raise.. not much of his range on the flop can stand much heat. On the turn I don't really like raising cos he only half potted it, and he doesn't look so strong, but I have to get money in somehow.. maybe i can call and CR the river.. prob better. I like my raise size though - sets up a perfect river shove. I think Villain should be betting more on all streets. I'm fairly sure he would be doing that when bluffing/barrelling.

Next 3 hands are against a v bad player. There was a waiting list of like 14 for him.

This is pretty standard i think. 100bb deep I think i go ahead and 3bet the flop esp out of position. But if we get this money in on the flop 180bb deep, I think a lot of the time I will be up against a 5, and there are tonnes of 5's in his range here.. well.. all of them. I'm not sure he would get allin with T6hh or something.. well.. at the time I didn't. So I call the raise and the turn bet and CR the river. Looking back I should CR more.. but that's a minor thing.

This hand is really standard from my point.. I bet the flop as I have middle pair and an open end straight draw. on the turn the 2nd T comes and I def don't feel good if I bet out and get raised so I check/call, on the river I let him bet his bluffs, which is what he likely had (he calls with a T) - I'm assuming he had the bare 9 or K for an OESD.

This is against Hitch.. who won far too much money today to miss any of this. To be fair he puts me in tough spots when we are deep.. this wasn't one of them. I would prefer raise more on the turn (to 600 or a bit more). He had 96.. which we agreed he should def fold on the turn.

V Hitch again.. this is what I mean.. tough spots.. we are 300bb deep.. I have no idea what to do OOP with top two. Normally top one is good enough v Hitch! He had a combo draw. I am 100% calling a potsized river bet, it would be closer to pushing than folding.

This has been way too long. It's taking more time than I thought too, so I prob wont update for a while.. just a quick question though... why do poker companies alllllways ring me in the morning and wake me up asking stupid questionnaires or asking if I want Bon Jovi tickets??? Just let me sleep! Unless it's tickets to a decent band.. obv!!
